First joint research seminar between ASNR and Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS)
From June 24 to 26, 2025, the first joint research seminar between ASNR and the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS), the Korean technical support organization dedicated to nuclear safety, was held in ASNR premises in Cadarache (13).
This seminar brought together around forty experts both online and in person, and enabled fruitful discussions on several technical topics: Fuel Safety, Severe Accidents, SMRs & AMRs, Decommissioning and Waste Management, and Long-Term Operation (LTO).
Several areas of mutual interest were identified between the two organizations, laying the groundwork for potential cooperation, including information exchange on a range of technical subjects, participation in research programs, and the secondment of a KINS expert to ASNR on the topic of severe accidents (ASTEC code).
The technical meetings were followed by a visit to some of ASNR’s nuclear safety research platforms: CHROMIA, THEMA, MAESTRO, and ODE.
