The boards and committees
ASNR relies on various committees and boards in order to carry out its work, presented below.
The ASNR Scientific Council
The Scientific Council is consulted on ASNR’s scientific strategy and on any other matter relating to research into nuclear safety and radiation protection. It assesses the relevance of the research programs defined by ASNR, monitors them and evaluates their results. It may make recommendations on the direction of ASNR’s research activities.

The ASNR Enforcement Committee
In accordance with the provisions of the French Environment Code, ASNR set up its enforcement committee on 19th October 2021. The creation of this committee completes the range of coercive measures available to the ASNR.
Where matters are referred to it by the ASNR commission, it will have the power to impose administrative fines on operators of basic nuclear facilities, those responsible for transporting radioactive substances, operators of nuclear pressure equipment, and those responsible for nuclear activities regulated by the French Public Health Code. Its independence is guaranteed by law.

The Committee on Ethics and Professional Conduct
The Committee on Ethics and Professional Conduct is responsible for issuing opinions on general questions concerning the application of the rules of professional conduct in the ASNR’s departments, answering questions relating to individual situations, and conducting discussions on ethical issues relating to the ASNR’s organizational and operational rules, its activities, in particular expert assessments, research, and activities that may give rise to remuneration for services rendered.
The Steering Committee for Social, Organizational, and Human Factors (COFSOH)
ASNR considers it necessary to promote discussion and work on the contribution of people and organizations to the safety of nuclear facilities and worker protection. In 2012, ASNR therefore decided to set up a multidisciplinary and pluralist body called the Steering Committee for Social, Organizational, and Human Factors (Comité d'orientation sur les facteurs sociaux, organisationnels et humains – COFSOH).
ASNR defines social, organizational, and human factors (SOHF) as all aspects of situations and organization that affect the work of operators. Such aspects may relate to the individual (training, fatigue, stress, etc.), organization the work in which he or she is involved (functional and managerial links, coactivity, etc.), technical devices (tools, software, etc.), and, more broadly, the working environment with which the individual interacts. SOHFs therefore consider interactions between individuals and other components of the socio-technical system, including the organization, technical devices, and the working environment.

The Steering Committee for Managing the Post-Accident Phase of a Nuclear or Radiological Accident (Codirpa)
The Steering Committee for Managing the Post-Accident Phase of a Nuclear or Radiological Accident (comité directeur pour la gestion de la phase post-accidentelle d’un accident nucléaire ou radiologique – Codirpa), chaired by ASNR, brings together government departments, expert assessment institutes, nuclear facility operators, the national association of local information commissions, local information commissions themselves, and associations.
Its role is to provide the government with recommendations on the strategy for managing the consequences of a nuclear accident.
The Committee for the Analysis of New Techniques and Practices using Ionizing Radiation (CANPRI)
With the frequent emergence of new techniques and practices in the medical field, a working group dedicated to identifying such techniques and practices and analyzing the issues they present in terms of radiation protection, as well as drawing up recommendations and conclusions in terms of patient and worker radiation protection, was created on 8th July 2019.
