ASNR participates in the Steering Committee of the TSO Forum under the aegis of the IAEA
From 1st to 3rd April, the ASNR took part in the 21st steering committee of the Technical and Scientific Support Organisations Forum (TSOF). This IAEA forum aims to promote cooperation between scientific and technical support organisations (TSOs), whether independent or part of the safety authorities, and other scientific organisations (European Commission - Joint Research Centres, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development Nuclear Energy Agency - OECD NEA) involved in the technical and scientific challenges associated with nuclear safety and radiation protection.
The meeting addressed a number of technical and strategic issues and reviewed the implementation of the Forum’s programme. This was also an opportunity for the new members to present their organisations and missions. Finally, the strategy to be adopted by the TSOF was defined for the coming months, particularly with regard to the development of new tools and technical documents.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to test an improved version of the web-based tool TOSCA (Technical and Scientific Support Organizations Self Capability Assessment), used for the self-assessment of the technical and expertise capabilities of TSOs, particularly in support of regulatory activities. Finally, the meeting provided an opportunity to present the ASNR's new organisation to its international collaborators, and to explain how the French TSO (formerly IRSN) now fits into the structure of the new Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Authority.
