On Monday, 17 November 2025, at its Montrouge headquarters, ASNR received a Malaysian delegation composed of officials from the Ministry responsible for energy (*) and representatives of key actors in the sector, including the Energy Commission, the national grid operator, and the company in charge of coordinating electricity production.

This visit took place in the context of a likely future nuclear power programme in Malaysia. The Malaysian side expressed interest in strengthening its expertise in areas related to regulation and nuclear safety oversight, licensing processes, the regulatory framework applicable to small modular reactors, and public communication.

Relationships between ASNR and Malaysia started recently, but for nearly 10 years, the French authority has maintained close relations with Singapore. In a context of growing interest and requests from countries in the region, ASNR is considering offering regional training services through the network of nuclear authorities of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, ASEANTOM.
